This is a top notch old fashioned scraps and all wonderful chip shop. After a long hike they will fill your veins with vinegar, potato, salt, fresh fish and batter in abundance and won't rip you off. Just what I needed.

Really tasty food Went for the fishcakes, chips and curry sauce.£8 including a drink. There's a few seats inside and out. Service was friendly, I'll forgive them for calling me a Scouser 😉

Called in tonight just before closing and received a very warm welcome. Portions were of a very good size (crispy batter on fish and lovely chips) and great value for money. Also, appreciated the kindness shown towards our dog who really enjoyed the gift of a sausage! Thank you! 🤩

Stopped off for traditional fish and chips while visiting Castleton and Mam Tor. Can honestly say this was the best bit of battered cod we’ve had in years! Perfectly cooked (fresh) and decent portions. Friendly service and little benches (inside and out) to sit and enjoy our food. Highly recommended - don’t miss out if you need to restore yourselves after clambering up hills!

When open, Castleton fish & chips is a must visit. Freshly cooked, often to order, range of the usual chippy offerings. A good range of cold drinks too. Super service from lovely people. A few seats outside and a few benches in the old Market Place which is a delightful spot to enjoy your food.

Great spot after hike! Queue moves quickly. Food is freshly made to order. The blonde lady behind the counter was very nice and quick with our order. Battered sausage was delicious! Curry sauce wasn't too salty, which I loved! Great prices. Options to add salt and vinegar. Definitely recommend!

We were actually staying in the cottage above the chip shop for a couple of nights and the smell was delightful so we had to try them. The size of the fish was fantastic and it tasted delicious .. and not too much batter. The chips were lovely too and the portion size was enough for 2 to share. The cost was great value, the staff were very friendly and we definitely will visit again when we’re up this way
